FoodEng Recruitment is proud to be supporting S4 Engineering with the appointment of an Automation & Control Support Engineer.

An opportunity has arisen for a Multi-Skilled Automation & Control Support Engineer. This role will report to the Software Director and be responsible for site commissioning and the 24/7 support of systems in the food and beverage industry. We are looking for an experienced engineer who shares the company’s ethos combining a can-do attitude with positive customer focus.

S4 Engineering provides a design, fabrication, and install service for process equipment in to factory’s. This includes totally automated PLC and SCADA systems capable of full integration and compliance.

The Role:

You will be responsible for providing reactionary and planned support. As part of a team this will include time on call. You will also provide site commissioning.

You will be responsible for diagnosing issues on PLC and SCADA systems reported by our clients. You will also have some electrical and mechanical experience allowing you to diagnose low voltage faults on equipment like valves and motors. Your duties will include regular backups, disaster recovery plans, and planning for obsolescence.

You will be responsible for leading on site commissioning including test procedures and RAMS.

You will be based at our UK office but mainly work on client sites. You will be expected to travel for support and commissioning which are generally in the UK. This will include some unsociable hours.

The Candidate:

We are looking for a hardworking and conscientious individual who is great at communicating and has a good eye for detail. For the right candidate, a competitive package will be agreed depending on experience and skills. This will include salary, pension, holiday, and a bonus scheme.

You would have: -

  • At least 3 years PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming experience in the food industry.
  • Worked with Allen Bradley RSLogix, FactoryTalk View; Siemens TIA Portal; GE Proficy iFix.
  • Be good at fault finding and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of setting up control equipment (invertors/flowmeters), electrical panels and drawings, process drawings (P&ID), liquid handling, and process equipment (pumps/valves).

And ideally: -

  • Have experience with Siemens, Step 7, TIA Portal, WinCC; Mitsubishi; Bejiers; and Proface.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Access, Project, Excel, and Word.
