Junior Controls Engineer – Avon/Somerset

Salary £28,000 pa - £34,000 pa

This organisation assists manufacturing businesses to utilise Robotics and Automation to improve costs and efficiency. Their systems and process machinery brings together advanced technology, machine learning, and human machine interface to create intelligent robotic automation that solves complex production challenges.

Working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment the Junior Controls Engineer will design and develop Control Systems for Special Purpose Machinery with the emphasis on Robotics and Automation solutions delivery. The individual appointed will test and validate Control System designs and be involved in technology builds and the installation of solutions at company sites as part of a project team.

You Will become familiar with the use of EPLAN Electrical CAD Software for designing Control Systems from concept to implementation and will be given the opportunity of developing your skills and experience programming and installing PLC and HMI systems including Siemens and Allen Bradley. The Junior Controls Engineer will gain competence in writing specifications for controls and electrical cabinets including wiring diagrams, cable calculations and pneumatic diagrams.

Technology you will be involved with includes various Control System interfaces, end of arm tooling, material handling, multiple conveyor systems, automated inspection, collaborative robots, vision inspection systems, pick and place technology, flow wrapping, palletisation, autonomous robots, autonomous manufacturing solutions.

As this is a Junior role, we are looking for individuals with perhaps 1-2 years post-graduate experience in an Engineering role encompassing Automation and Robotics. Applicants should be ambitious and inquisitive. Software experience (Python / C++ / Javascript) would be advantageous. Applicants should hold a Degree in a relevant subject such as Robotics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering.
