A leading Food Manufacturing business operating from a modern purpose-built facility. They are seeking to appoint a Maintenance Engineer to join their long-serving Engineering team. This organisation is a global leader within the sector they operate and have BRC AA+ accreditation. They supply major grocery retailers and other customers and have invested in their production plant and machinery, providing a wide range of interesting modern plant and machines for their Engineers to work on.

The Role

Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm, 2-10pm, alternate weeks.

Working as part of an experienced Engineering team, you will play your part in ensuring the efficient running of all production machinery. This will include the following duties:

  • Completing reactive maintenance duties on food production equipment and associated machinery (responding to breakdowns, fault finding and repairing).
  • Planned Maintenance activities (servicing, daily checks).
  • Completing project work such as the installation of new machinery, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Working in a safe manner in line with Health and Safety requirements, Hygiene and Food Safety.
  • Maintaining and administrating planned maintenance on a computerised maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Liaising with contractors for machinery repairs.
  • Assisting with Continuous Improvement initiatives, leading improvement activities.
  • Process engineering and improvement within the Engineering department.
  • Work proactively to improve production efficiencies by improving changeover times, and minimising downtime.
  • Occasional assistance with facilities engineering, maintaining the fabric of the building.Fault finding with PLC’s, pneumatics and mechanical components.

The Person

  • Electrically biased Maintenance Engineer;
  • Previous maintenance engineering experience, possibly within food manufacturing, or other manufacturing environment.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • The ability to communicate efficiently with contractors to organise on site work.
  • The ability to be logical and analytical.
  • The ability to understand the needs of the business and prioritise your workload accordingly.
  • The ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • The ability to fault find on PLC and good general knowledge on pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical.
