Technical Sales Manager

This organisation is revered amongst its competitors and is a genuine industry leader within the markets it serves. Well-established and profitable the business designs and manufacturers food machinery supplied into a host of customers within the UK and Overseas. An exciting new role has been created for an individual to join the company and untap extensive sales opportunities.

The Role

The Technical Sales Manager will be given the autonomy and trust required to develop and implement the commercial plan and deliver profitable business across the UK and globally. They will report directly to the Managing Director and will provide commercial strategy and sales insight at board level, applying a fresh and tenacious approach to the sales & marketing function, driving sales of high-value capital equipment. To ensure a smooth transition into the business, the jobholder will benefit from working closely with a director who will transfer detailed information on customers and technical product specifications.

The individual appointed will maintain existing customer relationships and establish new relationships, as they develop the significant opportunities that exist to expand the customer base. The Technical Sales Manager will represent the business with integrity, whilst offering technical solutions and delivering for customers. There will be an opportunity to develop and improve the robustness of internal systems and put your stamp on commercial aspects of the business. Technical aspects of this role will include interpreting schematic drawings and other project documentation.

The Technical Sales Manager will be involved in day-to-day sales tasks such as, following up-leads, budgeting, and undertaking sales and marketing activities that will grow the sales pipeline. They will work closely with the MD on formulating the sales strategy and will regularly monitor and refine the plan, providing feedback to group management. Working closely with the Projects teams, the jobholder will review customer’s technical requirements and ensure lead times are deliverable.

The Person

It is expected the individual appointed will hold a Batchelor’s degree or HND in Engineering, combined with a track-record of delivering profitable sales growth within a technical and commercial environment. Experience of selling Food Machinery would be of particular relevance. A second language would be desirable, although more important is the determination to deliver profitable sales and develop your career into the most senior Commercial contact within the business. The role is based at West Yorkshire and extensive travel both Nationally and Internationally is expected, to visit customers and agents and represent the business at trade shows and exhibitions.
